We are currently in search of a Payroll Manager for a Performing Arts Organization. The position is based in Fairfax, VA (Starting Remote). This is a full-time, temporary to permanent assignment.

Is This Your Dream Job? The Payroll Manager manages biweekly payroll for 100+ employees including salaried, freelance (union and non-union) and seasonal workers. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity with a competitive salary and benefits for the permanent employee.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience managing payroll
  • Certified Payroll Professional and/or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting a plus
  • Familiarity with Paycom strongly preferred
  • Prior experience processing payroll for union and non-union employees desired
  • Independent, self-starter

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Processing biweekly payroll for 100+ regular staff including:
    • Management of time reporting (automated)
    • Verify appropriate deductions are withheld
    • Create and maintain all timesheet formats
    • Coordinate with managers or other individuals responsible for payroll for timely submission
    • Submit completed payroll information to Controller and VP for review and final approval
    • Print/deliver payroll checks or direct deposit advices to all departments on the payroll date
    • Prepare and electronically transmit federal and state taxes including monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state filings
    • Prepare and submit 403(b) data for all employees
  • During summer season (Apr-Sept) processing weekly payroll for up to 500 seasonal and freelance employees
  • Prepare check requests and produce appropriate reports for employer and unions to include: union dues/benefits, liens, garnishments, child support, etc.
  • Respond to unemployment forms and garnishment requests
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and requests
  • Manage, review and process monthly invoice any applicable paperwork for medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, FSA and health club
  • Manage year-end payroll close; prepare and deliver/mail W-2s and forms 1095 to all employees
  • Prepare and submit all ACA forms and fees
  • Complete year-end testing for 403(b), FSA and other plans as needed
  • Prepare materials and respond to external auditor requests
