We are currently in search of a Director of Fundraising and Development for a Community Services nonprofit. The position is based in Chicago, IL This is a Permanent/Remote, Full-Time assignment.

Is This Your Dream Job? Overview: Reporting to Chief Executive Officer. This position works closely and leads activities with contract grant writers, communication professionals, and event planners. The Director of Fundraising and Development will lead and execute fundraising activities for the agency and assist the CEO in increasing corporate and foundation awareness of agency programs. This is a full-time salaried position and will interact regularly with the CEO, program leadership, senior management, and Board of Directors. This is a hand-on opportunity that requires an executive presence as the agency’s fundraising capacity is increased.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Lead the planning, organization, implementation, and the evaluation of fundraising activities to meet the goals of the Centennial Campaign and general operations of the organization.
  • Manage and develop relationships with current and potential corporate and foundation donors.
  • Write and submit grant proposals, applications, and reports; develop fundraising presentations; manage and maintain a calendar of grant proposal and report submissions.
  • Lead partnerships with corporate and foundation community service volunteer events.
  • Maintain a database of donations and contacts.
  • Develop marketing strategy and plan for annual fundraising events.
  • Solicit sponsorship, donations, and corporate matching gifts.
  • Identify new foundations, corporations and opportunities to cultivate prospective donors.
  • Supervise the development of the donor database in Salesforce and prospect management process to guide cultivation and solicitation activities.
  • Track and monitor development activities and accomplishments and submit timely reports to the CEO and others as required.
  • Collaborate with Chief Executive Officer, Program Directors, and Senior Management in identifying new grant opportunities for donors to advance the organizations’ impact in the lives of clients and as lead agency in human service networks in the city, state, and region.
  • Develop fundraising and marketing presentations and videos.
  • Prepare/recommend/administer annual Development budget.
  • Support the CEO in staffing the board level Development Committee.
  • Assure organizational compliance with generally accepted fund-raising principles, financial reporting requirements and ethical codes of professional conduct.

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; advanced educational or association membership preferred. A high level of personal and professional integrity, an ability to inspire confidence and cooperation.
  • 3-5 years of experience is required in corporate sponsorship and giving, preferably in a Human Services, Education or healthcare setting. Leadership from non-academic or healthcare settings will also be considered.
  • A proven track record of successful gift solicitation with evidence of substantial fundraising accomplishments; campaign experience highly desired.
  • Discretion with confidential materials required and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a broad spectrum of people: staff, volunteers and corporate leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong leadership communication, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented team environment required and ability to serve as a strong and effective advocate for Ada S. McKinley Community Services prospective donors, and the corporate community; an organized, focused and goal-oriented personality coupled with a high level of initiative, energy, and capacity for work.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge or other CRM or fundraising databases.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on a limited basis.
