We are currently in search of a Director of Human Resources for a Religious Institute. The position is based in Washington, DC. This is a full-time, temporary to permanent assignment.

DURATION: Temporary or Temporary to Permanent

SCHEDULE: 35 hours/week

HOURLY PAY: $22.00 – $27.00/hour

Religious Educational Institution looking for a Director of Human Resources to provide a broad range of human resources services and support for supervisors and employees in the following areas: administering HR policies and procedures, search processes, recruiting, posting jobs, orientation, HR-related training, compliance with federal and state labor laws, performance management, employee relations, leave of absences and exit processing.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • At least 3 years of HR management in a higher education institution preferred
  • Understanding of Christian principles and comfortable interacting with clergy members
  • Experience working in multiple functional areas of HR
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and HR best practices
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • A high degree of credibility and integrity
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office Suite and HR software programs

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Recommend appropriate changes and updates in personnel systems and procedures to promote greater efficiency, cost savings, or other benefits for personnel
  • Ensure institutional compliance with all federal and state regulations regarding employment matters and labor laws
  • Support supervisors in the hiring process by assisting with posting jobs, reviewing applications, checking references, coordinating the interview processes, conducting initiating offers, and on-boarding candidates
  • Manage all benefits for all employees
  • Coordinate open-enrollment periods for benefits and mitigate issues that arise pertaining to benefits
  • Assist employees and supervisors in resolving employee relations issues
  • Coordinate the performance appraisal process and follow-up with supervisors on any needed performance improvement plans
  • Coordinate staff training and development activities along with annual reviews of institutional policies
  • Work closely with payroll to ensure accurate processing of employee information
  • Other duties as assigned
