We are currently in search of an Interim Executive Director for a Policy Organization. The position is based in Oakland, CA. This is a Temporary assignment.

POSITION TITLE: Interim Executive Director
DURATION: Temporary, 3-6 Months
SALARY: $55-65/hr
HOURS: 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, flexible

Is This Your Dream Job? As the Interim Executive Director, you will lead the team at this organization through a time of transition.  You will partner with the Board and staff to ensure all aspects of the organization are running smoothly.  You will be responsible for building a strategic plan, budget planning, building partnerships, generating funds and sustaining relationships with donors.  You will take on the responsibility of managing operations and updating policies and procedures within the organization.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 7+ Years of Experience in Nonprofit Management
  • Experience working as an Interim Executive Director strongly preferred
  • BA preferred
  • Experience building budgets and strategic plans in a Nonprofit setting
  • Track record of successful fundraising
  • Demonstrates a management style that engages and inspires staff and garners volunteer, youth and stakeholder support
  • Possesses a friendly and approachable demeanor, positive attitude and genuine enjoyment for interacting with families, staff and Board

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Consulting with Board of Directors to make decisions on behalf of the organization
  • Attending and reporting at Board of Directors meetings
  • Consistently maintaining knowledge and control of budgetary, operational and HR matters
  • Assess the organizational structure of the organization for its mission alignment and making necessary adjustments
  • Addressing staffing and personnel issues
  • Maintaining and building relationships with donors and potential donors
  • Maintaining and building relationships with stakeholders in Oakland and the Bay Area
  • Building the process for hiring a permanent CEO
  • Ensuring compliance of all nonprofit laws; maintain and develop internal policies as needed
  • Confidentially manage financial resources and assets
