We are currently in search of an Accounting Analyst for a Social Services organization. The position is based in downtown Chicago, IL. This is a temporary-to-permanent, full-time assignment.

SALARY: $18.00 – $20.00/hour 

Is This Your Dream Job? Under the immediate supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accounting Analyst is responsible for processing payroll and vendor payments, preparing journal entries, maintaining fixed asset system, preparing and maintaining monthly account reconciliations, assisting with annual budgeting, maintain records retention, and supports the efficient operation of the Finance Department by assisting with a wide range of other analytical and accounting functions.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Have a working knowledge of finance, budgeting, general accepted accounting principles and program management
  • Highly proficient with the use of MSOffice along with advanced Excel skills
  • Have experience with high level software applications
  • Have very strong communications skills – both verbal and written are a must
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve and trouble-shoot quickly
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Experience with payroll software, preferably Paycom or ADP

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Assists with the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies, prepares closing journal entries, and posts accrual entries. Maintain and process all monthly corporate card statements
  • Uses accounting principles and financial techniques to prepare critical financial reports.
  • Utilizes accounting system, billing system, payable systems, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Processes vendor payments and payroll. Performs various complex account analyses and reconciliation related to accounts payable and payroll.
  • Maintains vendor, donor, and grantor data in accounting system.
  • Prepares deposits and maintains deposit reconciliation worksheet.
  • Maintains fixed asset system, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets system, and preparation of depreciation schedules for budgeting purposes.
  • Provides financial analysis as required to support other staff members
  • Prepares audit work papers.
  • Prepares various financial documents for compliance with regulations.
  • Maintains records retention log to facilitate the orderly file system of permanent records for adherence to record retention policy
