We are currently in search of a Nonprofit Grants Manager for a Social Services Organization. This position is based in Chicago, IL. 

Organization Type: Social Services Organization

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: Temporary, Temporary to Permanent

Schedule: Full time (40 hours/week)

Hourly Rate: $24-$26/hour

Salary: $55,000-$58,000 annual

The Nonprofit Grants Manager will secure and manage foundation, corporate and government funding to support the programs and services of the organization as well as conduct prospect research to identify potential funders and funding opportunities. This is a great opportunity for someone who is currently unemployed and looking to start a new position ASAP. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years’ experience in grants management and prospect research
  • Previous grant writing experience required
  • Excellent research skills, including working with online resources such as Foundation Directory Online and Donor Search
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • High-level writing, proof reading and grammar skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact verbally with grant makers, staff, and guests
  • Ability to track deadlines, plan work accordingly, and complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Empathy for individuals who are experiencing homelessness

How You Will Spend Your Day:

Grant Management

  • Identify and target foundations, corporations and government grant opportunities
  • Develop and manage relationships with funders
  • Write and prepare Letters of Inquiry, matching requests to the interests of grant makers
  • Write and prepare grant applications and supporting materials to meet grant deadlines
  • Write grant thank-you letters, intake forms, and reports
  • Manage funder information in CRM database
  • Maintain calendar of all grant-related deadlines
  • Prepare monthly grant analysis schedule

 Research

  • Conduct prospect research and analysis of corporations and foundations to determine funding opportunities for annual goal setting and forecasting
  • Conduct prospect research and analysis to determine giving capacity and charitable affinity among high net worth individuals to support moves management strategies
  • Conduct research to identify and target sponsorship opportunities for fundraising events
  • Work with program staff to gather information to identify and update outcome statistics for use in grant requests and reports, as well as other fundraising and promotional activities
  • Identify and works with program staff to implement any new areas of outcome reporting that would be supportive of fundraising efforts
