We are currently in search of a Nonprofit Grants and Development Manager for an Education Organization. This position is based in Chicago (North Side), IL.

Duration: Temporary to Permanent

Schedule: Full time (40 hours/week)

Hourly Rate: $25-$30/hour

Salary: $53,000-$67,000/annual

 

Is This Your Dream Job? Under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy, the Nonprofit Grants and Development Manager is responsible for writing and submitting multidisciplinary, and multi-collaborative grant proposals, ranging in size, scope and complexity, to a wide range of public and private external funding agencies and organizations, such as foundations, corporations, government, and other institutions. This position will support budget development, prepare grant and stewardship reports to corporate and foundation donors, and manage the grants tracking process. This position will also engage in other development writing projects related to strengthening the organization’s fundraising capacity. This is a great opportunity for someone who is currently unemployed and looking to start a new position ASAP.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of successful grant writing experience and proven ability to secure government and private funding required
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Salesforce CRM a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in writing persuasive, clear, concise, and visually attractive proposals/reports preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting, such as appeal writing, grant writing, technical writing, proofreading, editing, copywriting, or other equivalent written communication format
  • Experience successfully soliciting local, regional, and national foundations and a proven track record of securing new foundation grants
  • Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Superior project management skills including the ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines, and an excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience managing a growing schedule of proposal writing and submissions
  • Thinks and visions innovatively about potential funding opportunities outside of traditional partnerships
  • Experience fostering an organization-wide culture of philanthropy

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

Grant Management

Write high-quality, well-positioned funding proposals and project manage all aspects of the pre- and post-award proposal and report writing process (Letters of Inquiry, abstracts, concept papers, and acknowledgement letters and other funder required documents) including:

 

  1. Prioritizing grant applications and collaborating with program leadership, staff and other subject matter experts to ensure alignment of funding opportunities with strategic priorities

 

  1. Confirming program and staff capacity to meet funding criteria and deadlines

 

  1. Supporting the development of project budgets and logic models

 

  1. Supporting the writing and submission of state and federal grant proposals

 

  1. Monitoring changes to grant submission portals and procedures and ensure

ongoing compliance with supporter requirements.

 

  1. Actively engage in ongoing prospect research that identifies funding opportunities that offer a favorable return on investment and advance strategic priorities

 

  1. Provide effective coordination of activities for prospective and current funding organizations, including site visits and prospect/cultivation/stewardship meetings

 

  1. Within initial 6 months, develop a strong knowledge and understanding of key staff and program and policy areas, and the protocols for effective communications and interactions within the organization

 

Development

 

  1. Partner with the Development team to develop multi-channel written content for Development campaigns and events to increase individual giving

 

  1. Support the Development team in the execution of other fundraising related activities as needed.
